IQ Pouch has launched what it describes as a next-generation oral pouch built around paraxanthine — the primary metabolite of caffeine and the compound that actually does the cognitive heavy lifting once your body breaks down a cup of coffee. The brand, created by MusclePharm founder Brad Pyatt, is positioning itself not as a caffeine product but as a smart energy platform for daily performance.
The founding story is personal. Pyatt, who built MusclePharm into a globally recognized sports nutrition brand, says he developed IQ Pouch after struggling with a decade-long nicotine habit. The goal was to create something that could satisfy the oral ritual and the focus-seeking behavior that drives nicotine pouch use — without the addiction.
“I created IQ Pouch out of necessity,” Pyatt said. “After battling a decade-long nicotine habit, I needed something that could replace the ritual without the addiction. As someone who has spent my career building performance brands for athletes, I wanted a product that delivered clean focus and energy in a smarter way. IQ Pouch became that solution.”
Why Paraxanthine?
The choice of paraxanthine as the primary active ingredient is deliberate and increasingly common among premium functional pouch brands. When you consume caffeine, your liver converts roughly 80% of it into paraxanthine — the compound responsible for the cognitive and performance benefits. By delivering paraxanthine directly, IQ Pouch claims to bypass the jitters and crash that many people experience with caffeine, which is largely attributed to the other metabolites produced during conversion.
“Most people don’t realize that when you drink caffeine, your body has to break it down before you get the real performance compound,” Pyatt said. “That compound is paraxanthine. By delivering it directly, we’re able to provide smoother energy, clearer focus, and none of the jittery crash people experience with traditional energy drinks.”
IQ Pouch uses Enfinity, a branded and clinically studied form of paraxanthine from ingredient supplier TSI Group, which has become the go-to source for brands in this emerging subcategory.
The Full Formula
The pouch isn’t just paraxanthine. IQ Pouch stacks it with L-theanine for calm focus, Cognizin citicoline for cognitive performance, Rhodiola rosea for mental stamina, and vitamins B6 and B12 for energy metabolism. Three flavors are available at launch — Mint Mode, Citrus, and Spiced.
The target demographic is wide but intentional: athletes, entrepreneurs, gamers, and creators — anyone operating in a high-demand cognitive environment and looking for sustained mental stamina without nicotine or stimulant crashes.
A Growing Category
IQ Pouch joins a rapidly crowding field. Ultra Pouches, which raised $11 million in Series A funding and sold one million cans in its first six months, is also built around Enfinity paraxanthine. FRISS has just entered the market with a caffeine-based approach. The Grocer recently named caffeine pouches one of the most dynamic new intersections in functional nutrition.
The brand says partnerships across sports, performance culture, and creator communities are in development, with announcements expected in coming weeks. IQ Pouch is framing itself less as a product and more as the beginning of a category shift — what Pyatt calls “smarter energy.”
