IQ Pouch, a new nicotine-free oral pouch brand, has launched with a product built around paraxanthine — the primary metabolite of caffeine and the compound the body actually converts caffeine into before delivering its energy effects. The brand was founded by Brad Pyatt, the entrepreneur behind global sports nutrition company MusclePharm and functional food brand Trubar, and was born from a decade-long personal struggle with nicotine.
“I created IQ Pouch out of necessity,” Pyatt says. “After battling a decade-long nicotine habit, I needed something that could replace the ritual without the addiction. As someone who has spent my career building performance brands for athletes, I wanted a product that delivered clean focus and energy in a smarter way. IQ Pouch became that solution.”
Why paraxanthine instead of caffeine
Most energy products — coffee, energy drinks, pre-workouts — deliver caffeine and let the body break it down through a multi-step metabolic process. Paraxanthine is the compound that results from that process — the active form that actually produces the energy and focus effects consumers are looking for. By delivering paraxanthine directly, IQ Pouch claims to bypass the jitters, anxious spikes and crashes that come from waiting for the body to convert caffeine.
“Most people don’t realise that when you drink caffeine, your body has to break it down before you get the real performance compound,” Pyatt explains. “That compound is paraxanthine. By delivering it directly, we’re able to provide smoother energy, clearer focus, and none of the jittery crash people experience with traditional energy drinks.”
A precision blend for cognitive performance
IQ Pouch combines Enfinity paraxanthine with a stack of supporting ingredients: L-theanine for calm, sustained focus; Cognizin citicoline for cognitive performance; and Rhodiola rosea for mental stamina under stress. Vitamins B6 and B12 round out the formula to support energy metabolism.
The product launches in three flavours — Mint Mode, Citrus, and Spiced — and is positioned for daily use rather than occasional energy boosts. That positioning is deliberate. IQ Pouch is targeting high-performance consumers — athletes, entrepreneurs, gamers and creators — who need sustained cognitive output throughout the day, not just a pre-workout jolt.
A new category within the pouch format
IQ Pouch’s launch adds to a growing list of nicotine-free oral pouches entering the market, each attempting to demonstrate that the pouch format has utility beyond nicotine delivery. Haypp Group recently launched caffeine pouches across its UK and Scandinavian platforms, and the broader category of functional oral pouches is beginning to attract serious investment from brand builders with nutrition and wellness backgrounds.
Pyatt says partnerships and collaborations are coming soon. “IQ Pouch is more than a product — it’s the beginning of a movement around smarter energy.” For a format that began as a tobacco harm reduction tool, the rapid expansion into cognitive performance, caffeine management and functional wellness marks a significant evolution in what oral pouches are becoming.
